Battery Pack Accessories

UPSI offers accessories that allow users to data from UPSI battery packs that have the SMART™ technology imbedded.

UPSI SMART™ Data Field Reader Box

The field reader box is a rugged device that allows an operator to interface to and access the data from battery packs that incorporate UPSI SMART™ loggers. The user uses a keypad to display data from the battery on the LCD display.

The reader box has a second mode of operation where it is used to depassivate the battery pack. Unlike simple load resistor methods of depassivating, the reader box allows the user to select the depassivating load current and the maximum time for the depassivation. This ensures that if forgotten the battery is not loaded unnecessarily for a long period of time.

The reader box is designed to be compatible with all version of the SMART™ logger family. To connect the reader to the battery pack UPSI supplies the specific reader interface cable required.

Watson Software w/ Logger interface cable

Even though the Field Reader Box allows the user to interface with all SMART™ data loggers, to access the full potential of SMART-2™ loggers upwards (SMART-1™ loggers only interface to the reader box) the Watson software is required. The Watson software is designed to run on a Windows PC. In order to interface the PC to the battery pack the software requires a Logger Interface Cable that is provided by UPSI.

The Watson software allows the user to:

  • Configure the SMART™ logger unit in the battery pack.
  • Download data from the battery pack to the computer.
  • Save data to a file for archival and later review.
  • Display and review data either directly from the battery pack or from a saved data file.
  • Export raw data for merging into other programs.
  • Printing of battery performance data.
